is dedicated to building the finest handcrafted bamboo fly rods, using only the highest quality materials and components such as A grade Tonkin cane (Arundinaria Amabilis) and the finest silk for beautifully wrapped guides. After spending time with Daryll Whitehead and Chet Croco, Larry Donahe, owner of L.P. Donahe Split Cane Rods, developed his own style and philosophy that resulted in bamboo rods that have power, grace, and elegance.
L.P. Donahe Split Cane Rod tapers are based on both classic makers (Leonard, Payne, Everett, Garrison, and Paul Young) as well as modern makers (Daryll Whitehead and Tom Whittle). Larry builds 6 strip (hexagon) bamboo rods that have a range of slow to fast action. He specializes in progressive, more medium fast action rods. Most L.P. Donahe Split Cane Rods are 3 to 6 weights, and 2 or 3 piece rods with 2 tips.
L.P. Donahe Split Cane Rods are bamboo fly rods you will enjoy fishing, and be proud to own and pass down to future generations.
