Meet the Maker

Larry Donahe is an avid fly fisherman who often refers to himself as a trout guy! He was born in Washington, raised in Oregon, lived in Montana, and currently resides in Minnesota. Needless to say Larry has been able to call some popular trout streams his home waters. While living in Oregon, Larry had the unique opportunity to learn how to build bamboo rods from popular west coast rod makers, Daryll Whitehead and Chet Croco.

In 2005, Larry merged his passion for woodworking and fly fishing to create L.P. Donahe Split Cane rods. By 2013 Larry’s perfectionism and passion for rod building earned him the “Master’s of their Crafts” title from the Star Tribune.

Larry Donahe also owns and operates Bridger Homes, where he uses his craftsman skills to create beautiful spaces for families to enjoy. Larry is dedicated to excellence and believes that every project, regardless if it is a deck or bamboo fly rod, is a masterpiece waiting to be created.
